Halloween Cat

This is Greasey. She is nuts. My dad found her as a baby kitten living in a tire outside of his work. Greasey’s full name is Grease Ball because that’s what she was when we got her. She also had fleas. She is a very lovable girl except that she terrorizes many of her family members. My sister really loves her, so we keep her around. She also has an enlarged nipple.

Greasey is a beautiful cat. I think she’d be a supermodel if she was a human. She is lean and has one of the longest cat tails I’ve ever seen. In addition to chasing it like she doesn’t know it’s attached to her body, she wraps it around herself when she sits like a very polite lady. She looks like the stereotypical, bad luck, Halloween cat in this picture though. On a related note, my mom once bought a Halloween CD with sound effects like howling winds and cackling witches. Our cats went crazy from it. Ha.

Happiest Pasta and Cheese Moment

I ate one of the best Italian meals of my life (at that point) at a restaurant in Amsterdam called Italia Oggi. We moseyed on over after the restaurant we were trying to go to was booked, what luck! I ordered parmesan pasta, and the next thing I knew, the waiter wheeled over a cart with an enormous wheel of parmesan cheese on it. He dumped my noodles onto the cheese, ignited them, and began mixing them around. Then, he started scraping up the cheese and mixing it into my pasta. Not only did I get a fabulous and surprising show, but I also got a meal to remember.

I think about that pasta frequently, hoping and hoping that the restaurant will still be there whenever I return to Amsterdam. Then, I go online and watch this video to relive my awe. Skip to the 35 second mark to see the wheel of cheese in action. What a great day.

Better Ways to Use Witty in the City

Hi, friends. I’d like to draw your attention to a few features on the site that can enhance your experience with Witty in the City. Some are old, some are new, but all will help you navigate the site, find the posts you’re looking for, discover new content, and keep you entertained. I’ve also included some of my favorite pictures that I haven’t shared with you yet.

First up is the “random post” link in the sidebar. Click the link, and you’ll be directed to a random Witty in the City post. I love browsing through random posts because it’s an easy way to read posts I might not have seen in a while. I’ve also told myself that if I ever don’t know what I should make for dinner, I’ll click the link and cook whatever comes up (assuming it’s about food and not Stella Puppy). I have so many recipe ideas backed up, that I haven’t gotten to do this yet though. I think that is sad, but I can’t be sure.

Next up is a new feature on the site that scrolls through titles and pictures of some of my posts. You can find it at the bottom of the sidebar. It’s fun to watch the images go by. If you see one you like, just click on the picture to read more.

Also new are two pages I created that should make it easier to find Witty in the City recipes. Links to the pages are in the side bar. One page sorts recipes by their main ingredient, and another page sorts recipes by type (i.e., main course, snack, appetizer).
